Dear Friends of the Northwest Community,

We have much to celebrate in northwest Houston and Harris County!

  • Steady growth in population and new businesses
  • Projects on the books: Exxon-Mobil campus, opening of Greens Road and the completion of Cypress Creek Parkway improvements
  • Higher education explosion in our area with the opening of various facilities housing a dozen universities serving our desirable demographic
  • The Cypress Creek Cultural District which houses the Pearl Fincher Museum of Fine Art, the Centrum, Barbara Bush Library, Cypress Creek Community Center and the Harris County Precinct 4 Courthouse. We are an arts destination!

We must be diligent in focusing public and private dollars on projects that will maintain and improve our infrastructure and amenities.
We can be proud of the community efforts that brought us the Green Medians, a 45-acre Lone Star College System complex
and a park system that when complete, will be unparalleled in Texas.

Join us in our crusade to improve business and community. Join us in our visioning efforts so that we create a future that is
well-conceived and representative of our entire community. Join our Chamber and be a part of building successful businesses
and a thriving community!

Message from the Chairman of the Board

Dear Cypress Creek Community Friends,

I am pleased and proud to be serving the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce Board as its volunteer leader during 2014, our 40th year as the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce. There has never been a more exciting time in our community as now. And there has never been a more critical time to have a strong Chamber to take the lead in community and commercial projects that will build on the phenomenal growth we are enjoying.

In 2013, we made great strides with our key initiative: Grow Northwest. We launched the Grow Northwest website (www.GrowHoustonNW.com ) , we performed business recruitment and retention projects, received 100% support from the Board and key community leaders in financially supporting this effort, we expanded our horizons  by taking our message to the ExxonMobil employees moving here from Virginia and we found friends in Old Town Spring who received us openly. We partnered with the Old Town Spring Improvement District where we now have office hours and we formed a strategic alliance with the Spring Preservation League that will be mutually beneficial. We all share the same vision…driving commerce.

Starting in 2013 and continuing into 2014, we will have hosted, sponsored and/or supported at least eight different community grass roots initiatives including the creation of the Cypress Creek Parkway Property Owner’s Association, the Cypress Creek Greenway Case Study funded by the Houston Parks Board and the Houston Galveston Area Council (H-GAC), the pursuit of a Livable Center Study Grant offered by H-GAC, and several crime prevention task forces. We perform a strong advocacy role in Austin, Washington D.C. and in Harris County to see that business friendly laws are passed and business unfriendly laws are repealed.

And by the way, our Chamber is growing as well. It is now time to look ahead to a bright future beyond 2014. We will continue the great work started by my predecessor, Enrique Lima, and we will build upon it. We will develop an aggressive Strategic Community Plan that we will publish and work to fund. We pledge to do this important work, but we need you to join the movement. Thank you for your caring and for your commitment.

May God Bless You and Your Business,

Juan Fresquez
